Received another football autograph today. This one was from Bob Johnson. Robert Cleveland “Bob” Johnson was born on August 19, 1946. At the University of Tennessee, he became the school’s first center to earn All-American honors twice. He was also named All-SEC three times, and Tennessee retired his number, 54.
Johnson was the Cincinnati Bengals’ first draft pick in 1968. He spent 12 years with the team, earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1968 and helped the Bengals win their first division title in 1970. The Bengals also retired his number, 54.
After playing, Johnson worked as a commentator on Bengals radio broadcasts and took part in charitable activities around Cincinnati.
